Can you stand the Miami Heat? They could easily be up 3-0 in the NBA Finals.
Or they could be down 3-0 to the Dallas Mavericks. It’s been close enough to go
either way, but in reality Miami has enjoyed the lead for the most part in this
series. Dallas made a timely run to take Game 2, then came up just a little short in Game 3, losing 88-86 as 2-point home faves on Sunday’s NBA betting lines. The spread moves to three points for Game 4 on Tuesday night (9:00 p.m. ET, ABC). There’s been a lot of talk about Chris Bosh making the
clutch baseline jumper that proved to be the game-winner, and Dirk
Nowitzki missing at the other end. But the shot of the day was another
career highlight for Mario Chalmers, who canned a 3-pointer
from just over halfcourt at the halftime buzzer to give Miami a seven-point
lead. Dallas supporters have at least a partial claim to a bad beat in Game 3
because of that circus shot. Even without Brendan Haywood (hip flexor) on the floor to
defend Bosh, the Mavs nearly came back for the win. Reports on Monday afternoon
had the seven-foot center listed as a game-time decision for Tuesday. In a close
series, a player like Haywood can represent the difference between winning and
losing. It wasn’t just that D-League denizen Ian Mahinmi (five
fouls, minus-6) came off the bench in Game 3 instead of Haywood; Tyson
Chandler also had one of his less effective days with five points and a
series-low 104 Defensive Rating as he played more conservatively. Even if Haywood can’t play Game 4, Dallas has room for improvement and the
next two games at home, so it’s still anyone’s series. Bodog has live betting
