Sadists are in luck on Tuesday night, as the Miami Heat face the Cleveland
Cavaliers in an NBA betting
matchup. The last time LeBron James faced off against his old
team, the Cavs were pounded into oblivion. With much attention on the surging Bulls in the East, Miami (51-22, 33-39-1 ATS) has quietly chugged to eight wins in its past nine games—all but erasing the stink from a five-game skid. The Heat have won five straight, including a 125-119 win over Houston on Sunday, but are just 2-4 in their past six games against the spread. Sunday’s win over the Rockets was an historic one. For just the second time
in NBA history, three teammates notched 30-plus points and 10-plus rebounds
during regulation time in the same game. James finished with 33 points, 10
rebounds, and seven assists; Dwyane Wade recorded 30 points, 11
rebounds, and five assists; and Chris Bosh finished with 31
points and 12 rebounds. Cleveland (14-58, 29-40-3 ATS), of course, continues to struggle in the
post-LeBron era. The Cavaliers lost 99-83 to Atlanta on Sunday, falling to 1-5
in their past six games. The Cavs have at least been respectable on NBA odds
lately, going 3-2 in their past five games against the spread—though both losses
came in the past three games. It’s hard to find any Cavalier playing particularly well, but
swingman Anthony Parker has been especially bad. Parker’s name
was thrown about in trade talks as the deadline approached; since the team
decided to keep him, though, he’s been completely miserable. Parker has made
just 32.1 percent of his shots over the past 15 games, including a horrific 21.6
percent from three-point land. Miami is 3-0 against Cleveland this season, covering twice. The Cavs have
managed to keep it close only once, a 101-95 loss in mid-December. The Heat won
the other two games by 28 and 27 points, respectively. James is averaging 27.7
points, 7.3 rebounds, and 7.0 assists against Cleveland this season. Get all your NBA odds at
