However, San Diego is a different entity when traveling. They've looked very poor their last 10 roadies (2-8) as well as over the long haul turning in a 11-25 away record on the season. LHP Mike Montgomery takes to the hill which a blessing for Cubs faithful. Not only is SD 2-8 their last 10 versus LHP, they've struggled mightily versus southpaws hitting way below the Mendoza Line @ .211 on the season. Our X-Factor tonight has to be new lead-off hitter Anthony Rizzo whose 5-for-5 leading off games with 2 HR's, a double & a walk. Over the longer haul, Rizzo is riding a 20-for-47 streak with 4 HR's, 16 RBI's during his current & career-best 13-game hitting streak. I like his chances against Jhoulys Chacin whose currently 6-5 with a 5.10 ERA. Look for the Cubbies to execute again & get the chance to bring out the broom tomorrow. He should heat up here versus a weak hitting team & get enough offensive support to win it late. Look for "Dem' Bums" to be right there in the NL Championship which is long overdue. I feel this team is deeper than they've been in 10 years. Count on them here as they out-muscle Colorado & Arizona for the top spot very soon. Houston Astros vs. Oakland Athletics (MLB) - 10:05 PM EDT Premium Pick Pick: Money Line: -147 Houston Astros Pick Title: 9 Star Back Down To Earth Play (WIN) The Oakland A's wanted the Yankees bad as witnessed by a 4-game sweep sent their way over the weekend. Now, it's letdown time. It's going to be a tough act to repeat with Gossett on the mound for the west-coasters. His 16.20 ERA over the last 3 spells trouble up against arguably the best hitters in baseball. Houston usually gives their starting rotation breathing room early. Don't expect the Astros 4-6 the last 10 fool you. This is a very talented & deep squad with their bats How talented? They've tattooed RHP to date for an incredible 37-15 record as well as rulers of the AL West with a 22-10 intra-divisional record. In contrast, the Athletics are a miserable 22-30 versus RHP & have struggled frequently going 12-19 versus that same AL West. Houston remains the sole team in MLB to NOT lose an inter-league game (5-0). My bottom line says the visiting Stros' have lasting power winning the majority of close ones going a combined 13-6 in 1-run & extra-inning games. Peacock should be able to figure out how to NOT let the A's big man (Khris Davis) beat him. This is a nice price to play Texas' Finest as their muscle is more apparent when on the road going an untouchable 23-8 which is good enough for the best in baseball. Sunday, June 18, 2017 Seattle Mariners vs. Texas Rangers (MLB) - 3:05 PM EDT Premium Pick Pick: Money Line: -185 Texas Rangers Pick Title: 10 Star MLB Sunday (LOSS) Let's call yesterday's no-show by the Royals a hiccup in the chain between many series of wins. Moving on to Sunday sees us dissecting this one to look more than solid for the home-standing Rangers. I like what I've seen with Yu Darvish back on the hill for Texas. He looked very impressive last week in his last start versus Houston that resulted in a 6-1 win. I love the fact that Yu has been excellent in series' closers winning 5 of his last 6. He'll be taking on a Mariners' squad that's gone a very weak 13-24 on the road this season as well as a struggling 3-9 their last 12 versus RHP. Look for Darvish to be smart enough to NOT let Seattle's hot man beat him. Catcher Mike Zunino (22 RBI's in June with 9 hits & 3 HR's his last 5 games) will not see much of a selection from Darvish. My bottom line points out the Rangers' (winners of 8 out of 10 coming in) bats have really been ignited since the return of 2 key cogs -- Mike Napoli & CF Carlos Gomez from the DL. Hitting coaches Anthony Iapoce & Justin Mashore have worked out some glitches in a few starters' swings & has paid off immensely. Look for that momentum to continue for a team that knows how to beat the patsies going 12-3 their last 15 overall but more importantly a consistent 27-11 when @ home in that same category. My dagger here has to be Mariners' starter Christian Bergman whose been getting lit up of late. Bergman got tattooed to the tune of a 7.90 ERA over his last 3 starts. Seattle's been weak in the starting pitcher category as James Paxson is the only one in the rotation to be pitching with any consistency. Look for the Rangers' bats to continue their long ball assault that's put them right in the wild card race a few weeks before the halfway point of the season. Saturday, June 17, 2017 Kansas City Royals vs. Los Angeles Angels (MLB) - 8:15 PM EDT Premium Pick Pick: Point Spread: 1.5/-175 Kansas City Royals Pick Title: 9 Star Headliner Runliner (LOSS) The Kansas City Royals followed the change of weather & are RED HOT to say the least. They are currently riding a 6-game streak versus the Angels. Mike Moustakas & Lorenzo Cain are hitting with enough authority to make things more than uncomfortable for the opposition. Expect KC's pitching to look even better since Los Angeles was hitting a weak .235 even before they lost their best layer in Mike Trout. My bottom line says Meyers is 4 for LA in his last 4 starts & his team has lost momentum. They now face a team that's not only 6 their last 6 roadies but are also a perfect 4-0 on (Sat.-Sun.) weekend openers. Until the wheels come off, the Royals are the most dangerous team in the AL Central. Lets go to Angel Stadium of Anaheim to play the KANSAS CITY ROYALS as my 9 Star Headliner Runliner! Friday, June 16, 2017 Washington Nationals vs. New York Mets (MLB) - 7:10 PM EDT Premium Pick Pick: Money Line: -153 Washington Nationals Pick Title: 9 Star Friday's X-Factor Play (WIN) The X-Factor we speak of is RH Max Scherzer of the Nats. Scherzer is more than solid going 8-1 his last 9 versus losing teams while also being an NL East killer going 21-5 his last 26. His mechanics has been brilliant as proven by his 1.16 ERA over his last 3 starts. Will he get enough run support? Washington has the advantage there too as they're hitting LHP to the tune of .268. The Nats have won their last 6 of 8 from New York. My bottom line says the Mets hit RHP under .250 & have been anemic @ CitiField going 16-21 on the season. The dagger for us has to be RF Bryce Harper whose HOT right now with an 8-game hitting streak. The Nationals have more than showed up away from D.C. going a very solid 22-12 heading into tonight. They take on a NY squad that's also struggled in their own division going 17-18. The facts are in so we'll go to CitiField to play the WASHINGTON NATIONALS as my 9 Star Friday's X-Factor Play! NOTES: Well, it had to happen sometime. I lost back-to-back games for the 1st time since mid-April in MLB action. The Texas bats suddenly went silent @ home with Darvish tanking one. I climbed right back though as subscribers are enjoying a current 3-game streak.
