San Diego has over-achieved versus Washington winning 4 of their last 5 in the series. The Padres haven't shown much on the road @ 9-17 & their immediate road after the Nats' series won't look brighter since they have a 6-game home stand versus the Cubs & Colorado on deck before traveling to Arizona. Luis Perdomo takes to the hill for San Diego. Perdomo has struggled over his last 3 (8.40 ERA) as well as @ night coming in with an 0-1 record & a 6.43 ERA. My bottom line says Washington is at their toughest versus RHP winning 25 games (1st in NL) thus far. That's just what the doctor orders for Max Scherezer (2-1, 3.34 @ night) who faces a team that's only hitting RHP slightly over the Mendoza @ .227. In the end, look for the Nationals to continue their mastery over RHP (hitting .269 currently) with some late-inning runs. Having Murray back in goal & Ottawa's under 2 goal scoring production has us siding with the home team. Both experience & talent speaks louder that words on the ice & Pittsburgh is king. Wednesday, May 24, 2017 Texas Rangers vs. Boston Red Sox (MLB) - 7:10 PM EDT Premium Pick Pick: Money Line: -255 Boston Red Sox Pick Title: 9 Star MLB Humpday Hottie (WIN) There's times where heavy favorites are warranted. This is one of those times. Tonight, we have LHP Chis Sale (4-2, 2.19 ERA) coming off a 3-2 defeat his last time out in Oakland. Boston may look like they're still under-achieving @ home (13-9). However, further examination reveals the Red Sox are highly successful against southpaws going 10-1 @ Fenway. Enter in fire-balling LHP Chris Sale. Sale hasn't been flawless, but coming off of a loss is a different story. He's also been way tougher in night games turning in an excellent 1.80 ERA. He'll get good support from Mitch Moreland whose on a current 7-for-23 streak with 3 HR's, 7 RBI's inside a 5-game hitting streak. My bottom line takes into account the effectiveness of Texas southpaw Martin Perez. Perez has showed some shades of brilliance here and there. But there's no denying he's a different pitcher on the road where he's lost 8 of 10. The daggers for us has to be losing 6 of 9 overall, being 0-3 @ night & getting pounded by the AL East where he's lost 6 straight. The Rangers are struggling this season versus LHP with a tad higher than the Mendoza line .225 BA. Boston's production doesn't match their record. This tells us they're a PLAY ON team with a expected won/loss record way higher than their actual record. Tuesday, May 23, 2017 Cleveland Indians vs. Cincinnati Reds (MLB) - 7:10 PM EDT Premium Pick Pick: Money Line: -165 Cleveland Indians Pick Title: 9 Star Sharp Point MLB (WIN) The Cleveland Indians are about to catch fire & we'll be ready! Despite their slow start, Terry Francona's Indians have still managed to be impressive on the road going 15-10 thus far. Tonight, RHP & Venezuelan Carlos Carrasco takes to the hill with an excellent ERA (2.60). He's had some oblique tightness but is now ready to go. The Tribe is 3-0 in his last 3 starts & is a perfect 3-0 versus Cincinnati lifetime. Carrasco has risen to the occasion after a short outing (4 innings or less) by going a near-perfect 8-1 his last 9. Rookie OF Bradley Zimmer is getting hot @ the right time going 5-for-13 the past week. Michael Brantley (.292 BA, 5 HR, 18 RBI) & Francisco Lindor (.275 BA, 9 HR, 21 RBI) both have been healthy & paid dividends @ the plate. Even though this one may look tight during the early stages, I feel strongly that the bullpens are where these teams are set far apart. My bottom line sharply points toward Cleveland dominating this one in the end as they close the door with a dynamic trio of Bryan Shaw (1.77 ERA), Andrew Miller (0.43 ERA) & closer Cody Allen (1.53 ERA). I love the facts that the Reds struggle in inter-league play going 14-37 as well as versus the AL Central losing 8 of their last 10 against that division. The dagger fir us has to be with Cincinnati having LHP Amir Garrett (3-3, 5.18 ERA) throwing. Garrett is susceptible to the long ball this season giving up (8 HR's) in his 7 starts. Let's take advantage here with the better team as we go to the Great American Ball Park in Ohio to play the CLEVELAND INDIANS as my 9 Star Sharp Point MLB! The road team has ruled it thus far & it's been mostly tight throughout. Anaheim has been playing super on the road versus winning teams of late. I don't expect Randy Carlyle & Co.to play this to the wire. This series is destined for 7 as I love Anaheim in a do-or-die situation. Nashville hasn't been playing dominating hockey & will find it hard to separate here. This one has a strong possibility of being decided in OT. We're banking on Corey Perry & Ryan Getzlaf to rise to the occasion & likely push this back to the Honda Center.
