Alexi Ogando (10-5, 2.88 ERA) will try for the third time to
pick up his 11th victory of the season on Thursday afternoon when his Texas
Rangers finished off their three-game series against the Tigers in Detroit. Righthander Ogando disappointed his backers on the MLB betting lines at the Bodog Sportsbook in his last two starts, getting tagged for back-to-back losses by the Toronto Blue Jays. Ogando gave up six runs over those 12 1-3 innings of work. Before those losses Ogando had managed to pitch the Rangers to consecutive
victories over the Marlins, Orioles, and Angels, but the streaky hurler lost his
three outings prior to that stretch. Overall the Rangers are even at 5-5 over
Ogando's last 10 starts. Ogando has pitched twice against the Tigers this season, going 2-0 and
surrendering just a single run in 14 2-3 innings of work. Brad Penny (7-8, 4.89 ERA) is slated to start for the Tigers
on Thursday and he's lost two games in a row as well – getting blasted by the
Angels and Twins for 11 runs in just 10 1-3 innings pitched. Detroit is 4-6 in
Penny's last 10 outings. Righthander Penny faced the Rangers in Detroit back on April 12, allowing
three runs on seven hits over 6 2-3 innings of work in a no-decision. The Rangers and Tigers are both looking to be division winners in the
American League this season, but it's Texas that has the better pennant and World Series
futures at the Bodog Sportsbook right now. The Rangers sit at 5/1 on the AL Pennant list, and at 11/1 odds to win
the World Series. The Tigers, meanwhile, are farther back at 10/1 odds to
claim the AL Pennant in October and at 20/1 odds to bring a championship to
Detroit at the end of the season. Get all your MLB odds at
