Jeff Niemann gets tasked with a tough start on Thursday night as his Tampa Bay Rays open up a four-game MLB betting series on the road against the New York Yankees to close out their first-half schedule. Niemann (3-4. 5.05 ERA) will be looking to carry the momentum from his most
recent start into Thursday's contest; the right-hander picked up a win against
the Cardinals, allowing just one run on nine hits over six innings of work. Overall Tampa Bay is 5-4 in Niemann's nine starts this season. Bartolo Colon's turn in the rotation comes up for the
Yankees on Thursday night, and the righthander has won four straight starts.
Colon (6-3, 2.88 ERA) returned from the disabled list against the Mets last time
out, holding them scoreless over six innings. The Yankees and Rays met in a short two-game series in Tampa Bay back in May,
with the teams splitting the contests one game apiece. Tampa Bay would improve their outlook on the MLB
futures board with a big performance in the weekend's four-game set, as
they'll need to overtake either the Yankees or the Boston Red Sox in the AL East
to make the playoffs. With that big task ahead of them the Rays have slipped down the Bodog World Series
odds board to 28/1 to win the championship this season. Tampa Bay is also at
15/1 odds to claim the AL Pennant in October. The Yankees, meanwhile, are riding high on the World Series odds list a Bodog
at 6/1 to win the championship and 3/1 to take the AL Pennant. For updated MLB
