It’s hard to call any series in mid-May overly important, but the Chicago White Sox could certainly use a sweep of a mini two-game set at home vs. the AL Central-leading Cleveland Indians starting on Wednesday night. Bet on Game 1 now at Bodog!

The White Sox, who are already 10 games out of first in the Central, got a big home win on Tuesday night in coming from behind to beat Texas 4-3. It was vital because Chicago had lost 10 of its past 11 games at home – the Pale Hose are just 6-12 at U.S. Cellular Field. Sox batters are 2-for-35 with runners in scoring position in their last seven home games. If the White Sox are swept here and fall 12 games back, it might be time for a fire sale on the South Side.

Cleveland enters off a two-game destruction of the Royals, outscoring Kansas City 26-4. The Indians are an MLB-best 26-13 and lead the AL in batting average and on-base percentage. They've won three straight and have been in first place in the AL Central for 41 straight days.

For tonight’s opener, White Sox right-hander Jake Peavy (0-0, 6.00) will make his second start of the season. The Indians will counter with right-hander Justin Masterson (5-1, 2.73), who was moved into Wednesday’s start after the Indians were rained out over the weekend. When the White Sox took two of three from Cleveland in the season-opening series, Masterson was the lone Tribe pitcher to earn a victory in that series, allowing one run in seven innings. Carlos Santana hit .462 (6-for-13) and Orlando Cabrera .417 (5-for-12) led Cleveland hitters in that series, while Carlos Quentin hit .545 (6-for-11) with one homer and seven RBI against the Tribe in the first series.
