Easily the best pitching matchup of the night and maybe so far this MLB season happens on Tuesday night
in South Florida when the Phillies’ Roy Halladay faces off
against the Marlins’ Josh Johnson. Philadelphia has opened as a
slight -120 favorite on Bodog’s baseball odds. The Phillies won the opener of this series on Monday night, 6-4, to improve to an excellent 10-4 on the road and open a three-game lead in the NL East over Florida. It was Philadelphia’s 18th win in the past 21 games in Miami in this series. It looks like the Phils have a new closer as Ryan Madson pitched a scoreless ninth for his fourth save in as many chances. He has replaced an injured Jose Contreras perfectly. Madson hasn’t allowed
a run since April 18. So now the Marlins have to deal with reigning NL Cy Young Award winner
Halladay, who will pitch in Miami for the first time since last May, when he
threw a perfect game when Johnson just happened to be the opposing pitcher. Halladay (5-1, 2.19) is a ridiculous 18-1 with a 1.56 ERA in 19 starts
against the NL East since last season. Johnson (3-1, 1.68) wasn’t great for the
first time this year in his last start, setting season highs with five runs on
eight hits allowed in 7 1/3 innings at St. Louis. He's thrown at least 114
pitches in three straight outings. Johnson is 5-3 with a 3.34 ERA vs.
Philadelphia. Johnson led the NL in ERA last year and ranks second this season.
Opponents are hitting .160 against him, lowest in the majors. Who wins this pitching matchup? Bet now at Bodog!
