By his standards, Philadelphias' Roy Halladay is coming off
a poor outing. He'll try to get back on track on Tuesday night when he takes the
hill in St. Louis in an MLB betting
matchup against the Cardinals. Righthander Halladay (9-3, 2.56 ERA) was denied his 10th win of the season last time out, giving up four runs on six hits over seven innings of work in a no-decision at home against the Marlins. Philadelphia, though, still ended up winning that game, and they've picked up
the victory in each of Halladay's last six starts. As well, Halladay has given
up three or more runs just twice in his past 10 trips to the mound. On the season Halladay has struck out 100 more batters than he's walked
(114-14). Going up against Halladay on Tuesday for the Cardinals will be Kyle
McClellan (6-3, 3.96 ERA), who was tagged with a loss by the Nationals
last time out after he allowed five runs (three earned) on seven hits in just
five innings of work. Righthander McClellan has just one win over his last five starts, and St.
Louis is just 2-3 over those games. The Cards had earned the win in each of
McClellan's first seven outings this season. St. Louis, though, has an obstacle to overcome other than Halladay on Tuesday
– first baseman Albert Pujols has a fractured forearm and is
expected to miss at least a month of action. Halladay and company continue to be the cream of the crop on the Bodog World Series
odds list, sitting as 3/1 favorites to win the title. Philadelphia is also
at 13/10 to win the NL Pennant this season. The Cardinals are at 16/1 on the World Series
odds and at 8/1 on the NL Pennant odds as they jostle with the Brewers for
first place in the NL Central standings and try to get by without Pujols for the
rest of the month. Check the Bodog futures section for the latest World Series and pennant
odds.
