Josh Beckett will be gunning for his third consecutive
victory on Wednesday night as his Boston Red Sox continue their three-game MLB betting
series at home against the rival New York Yankees. Beckett (11-5, 2.43 ERA) dominated the Rangers last time out, allowing just one run on four hits over six innings of work that day. That start came on the heels of a win over the Royals in which the righthander gave up just three runs in seven innings. Overall, the Red Sox are 8-2 in Beckett's last 10 trips to the mound, making
him a lucrative option lately on the MLB betting
odds at the Bodog Sportsbook. Beckett went 5-2 with three no-decisions in
those 10 games. Beckett last faced the Yankees at home on August 7, giving up one run on six
hits over six innings but settling for a no-decision in a 3-2 Boston win. In his
career Beckett is 13-7 against New York with a 5.37 ERA. Countering for the Yankees on Wednesday will be Phil Hughes,
and he was bailed out by his offense last time out against the A's after he
surrendered six runs on seven hits in just 2 2-3 innings of work – New York
scored 22 runs in a 22-9 win that day. Righthander Hughes started against Boston at Fenway Park back on April 8,
allowing six runs on seven hits over two innings in a no-decision in that
contest. Those kinds of outings won't get Hughes any innings in the postseason, with
the Yankees sitting at 12/5 odds to win the AL
Pennant this year and at 11/2 on the World Series
odds list. Boston is the 3/2 favorite to win the AL Pennant in October, and
on the World Series odds they sit at 7/2. Get all your MLB odds at
