There will be some star power missing in the Big Apple this weekend, but that
shouldn't dampen fans' enthusiasm for the MLB betting
matchup between the Yankees and Mets at Citi Field. Mets third baseman David Wright and Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter will remain out of their teams' respective lineups for this weekend series. The two clubs, though, have been playing solid baseball of late despite those absences. The Mets send Jon Niese (7-6, 3.67 ERA) to the mound in the
opener on Friday, and he'll be looking to stay calm during the outing. Niese
left his last start against the Rangers due to a rapid heartbeat, but
subsequently passed all his tests and will take to the hill on Friday. Lefthander Niese still managed to pick up the win in that contest, holding
Texas to two runs on six hits over 5 2-3 innings of work while fanning seven
batters. The Mets are 7-3 in Niese's last 10 starts. Ivan Nova (7-4, 4.26 ERA) is expected to start for the
Yankees on Friday, and he's coming off a no-decision against the Rockies in
which he allowed four runs on six hits over six innings of work. The Yankees
managed to win that contest 6-4, and they're 4-0 in Nova's last four trips to
the mound. The Yankees' big fanbase has helped them sit as one of the favorites at 7/1
on the Bodog World Series
odds list right now, and they're at 7/2 to win the AL Pennant this
season. The Mets, meanwhile, remain back at 125/1 odds to win
the World Series and 65/1 odds to claim the NL Pennant. More MLB
futures can be found on the Bodog baseball betting page.
