The National League are the favorites on the MLB betting lines as the top players in each league get set for baseball's All-Star Game at Arizona's Chase Field on Tuesday.

Or at least SOME of the top players in each league will be getting set for the contest, as a flurry of withdrawals has both rosters in a state of flux this week. In total, 16 selected All-Stars won't be playing on Tuesday night, either because they are injured, because they are resting an old injury, or because they pitched on Sunday.

That 16 includes four members of the New York Yankees: Injured third baseman Alex Rodriguez, resting shortstop Derek Jeter and closer Mariano Rivera, and starting pitcher CC Sabathia, who threw a complete-game shutout on Sunday against the Rays.

Along with Sabathia, five other AL All-Star starting pitchers won't take the mound on Tuesday, a list that includes the Mariners' Felix Hernandez, the Tigers' Justin Verlander, the Rays' David Price and James Shields, and the Red Sox' Jon Lester.

All-Star NL arms missing from Tuesday's game will be the Phillies' Cole Hamels and the Giants' Matt Cain, with the Senior Circuit getting hit harder by absences from the lineup instead (the Phillies' Placido Polanco and Shane Victorino, the Braves' Chipper Jones, the Mets' Jose Reyes, and the Brewers' Ryan Braun will all be out).

Add it all up, and the rosters are so watered down now that Reds third baseman Scott Rolen (.241, five home runs) has become a starter at the All-Star Game.

Still, Rolen's club has been set as the -122 favorite at Bodog for Tuesday's contest, with the AL as the +102 underdogs, and the total at 8.5 runs. The National League does have home-field advantage on Tuesday (although there will still be a DH used), and they got the monkey off their back last season with their skid-breaking victory. Bet on the MLB All-Star Game now.
