The New York Yankees have embarrassed the pitching of the Texas Rangers in the first two games of their series and the Bombers can sweep away the AL West leaders and hand them their fifth loss in a row Thursday afternoon. Bet on the game with Bodog’s MLB odds.

New York has scored 12 runs apiece in the first two wins. In Wednesday’s 12-4 win, all four Yankee infielders homered for the Yanks, with first baseman Mark Teixeira hitting two. The Yanks matched their season-high with five homers and they also had five steals. It was the first game since 1920 that the Yankees had five homers and five steals in the same game. Teixeira homered from both sides of the plate for the 11th time in his career, tying Eddie Murray and Chili Davis for the most in major league history. The Yanks are 6-2 vs. Texas this year and have 22 homers off Rangers pitching, the second time in the last 11 years that the Yanks have had more than 20 homers against a non-AL East opponent.

Meanwhile, Rangers pitchers have given up 70 runs in the last nine games, a 2-7 slide. About the only positive from Wednesday was that Texas’ Michael Young has now hit safely in 17 straight games in the Bronx. That's tied for the third-longest streak in the last 75 seasons.

The Rangers should have the pitching matchup on Thursday as they send out C.J. Wilson (7-3, 3.09) against Brian Gordon. Wilson has never beaten the Yankees, one of two American League teams the pitcher is winless against in his career (Detroit is the other.) In 20 career games (four starts), the left-hander is 0-3 with a 4.12 ERA against New York. The Yankees signed career minor leaguer Brian Gordon and he will start. Gordon, a converted outfielder, was 5-0 for Triple-A Lehigh Valley in the Phillies system. His only big-league experience was three relief outings with Texas in 2008.
