The streaking Arizona
Diamondbacks can finish off an impressive sweep in San Francisco this
afternoon and in the process take sole possession of the National League West
lead from a Giants team that had held it for weeks. However, San Francisco is
-150 on Bodog’s MLB baseball odds. Arizona has already beaten the Giants’ two aces in Matt Cain and Tim Lincecum with the Snakes pitchers holding San Francisco to just three combined runs in the first two games. Arizona’s 6-1 win on Tuesday was its fourth straight to grab a piece of the division lead for the first time since June 24. The Giants matched their season high with a fifth loss in a row. San Francisco has gotten little from its trade for the Mets’ Carlos Beltran. After
a 1-for-4 night Tuesday, he is just 5-for-25 with no homers, one run and one RBI for the Giants. San Francisco starts RHP Ryan Vogelsong (8-1, 2.23) today.
Vogelsong, who hadn’t pitched in the majors since 2006 and wasn’t on the Opening
Day roster, has allowed no more than three runs in each of his last 15 starts.
He is 5-1 with a 1.28 ERA at home. Vogelsong received no decision in his only
previous appearance vs. Arizona on June 16. The Diamondbacks go with RHP
Jason Marquis (0-0, 0.00). He makes his first start for Arizona
after coming over from the Nationals. In 12 career games (11 starts) against the
Giants, he is 5-3 with a 2.47 ERA, and he is 4-2 with a 2.61 mark in seven
starts at AT&T. Bet on MLB baseball now at Bodog!
