Fading in the AL Central standings, the Cleveland Indians will be in tough to
keep in playoff contention as they continue an MLB betting
series in Boston against the Red Sox on Tuesday night. The Tribe entered this week trailing the Detroit Tigers in the division
standings, and there's very little chance that they'd be able to make the
playoffs as a Wild Card team in the American League this season.
That means they need to overtake the Tigers again (and hold off the Chicago
White Sox) to put a storybook ending on their surprising campaign.
On Tuesday they'll send David Huff (1-1, 0.71 ERA) to the
mound, and he's been effective in his only two starts for the team so far this
season.
The lefthander made his season debut on July 18, tossing seven shutout
innings and giving up just five hits in a win over the Twins. Last time out Huff
held the Angels to two runs (one earned) over 5 2-3 innings of work, but
Cleveland lost the game 3-1.
Countering for the Red Sox on Tuesday will be Josh Beckett
(9-4, 2.17 ERA), and he failed to pay off on the MLB betting lines
at Bodog Sportsbook last time out after allowing four runs (three earned) in
seven innings against the Royals.
The righthander's most recent start against the Indians came on May 24 in
Cleveland, and he earned the win that day by surrendering just one run over 6
2-3 innings. Beckett lost to Cleveland at Fenway Park on April 3 (three runs
over five innings).
Overall the Red Sox are 7-3 in Beckett's last 10 trips to the mound, and he
allowed three or fewer earned runs in nine of those outings as his team surged
to the front of the pack on the AL Pennant odds at the Bodog Sportsbook. Get all your MLB odds at
