The Cubs are the weak link in their interleague MLB betting
series this weekend as they play host to the rival White Sox at Wrigley
Field. While the White Sox are at least within shouting distance of the lead in the
AL Central and the AL Wild Card spot, the Cubs have done nothing to convince MLB
bettors to take a shot at them at 200/1 on the current World Series
odds at Bodog. The Cubs are also back at 100/1 to win the NL Pennant this
season. Randy Wells (1-2, 6.25 ERA) gets the ball for the Cubs in
Friday's series opener, and he'll be looking to put forth a better effort than
he did last time out against the Royals when he gave up six runs on 10 hits over
six innings of work in a loss. Wells has started seven times for the Cubs so far this season, winning his
first time out and taking either a loss or a no-decision in each of the next six
games. Overall the Cubs are 3-4 when Wells heads to the hill. Edwin Jackson (4-6, 4.13 ERA) gets the start for the White
Sox on Friday, and the team is 0-5 in his last five trips to the mound.
Righthander Jackson deserved a better fate last time out, however, as he blanked
the Nationals on five hits over seven innings of work but still picked up a
no-decision. Jackson outings are where wagers have gone to die over the past couple of
months, as the White Sox are 2-8 in his last 10 starts. Luckily for the White Sox they've been a little better when their other
starters have headed to the hill, and they're at 30/1 to win the World Series on
the Bodog MLB
futures list right now. The ChiSox are also at 16/1 to claim this year's AL
Pennant.
