The Yankees vs. Cubs will get all the publicity, but the best MLB interleague matchup this weekend comes in Boston when the NL Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers visit the AL East-leading Boston Red Sox in what could well be a World Series preview. Bet on the series with Bodog’s MLB odds.

It’s Milwaukee’s first visit to Fenway since 2008. Because it’s in an AL park the Brewers get to use a designated hitter. Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said that first baseman Prince Fielder will serve as the DH in the series opener tonight. Fielder, who has played all 70 games at first this year, went 0 for 4 in the Brewers' 12-7 loss to the Chicago Cubs on Thursday and he finished the series 1 for 10 and without a home run. He had hit eight home runs in his previous 10 games.

Meanwhile, Boston excels in interleague play. Since Terry Francona became manager in 2004, the Sox are 86-43 in interleague play, including their two wins against the Cubs last month in Fenway Park. That’s the best winning percentage in the majors over that span. The Red Sox, after starting the season 0-6, now boast an American League-best 41-27 record. Boston completed its nine-game road trip with an 8-1 record and just took two of three games from Tampa Bay.

The pitching matchup seems to favor Milwaukee tonight. It starts right-hander Shaun Marcum (7-2, 2.68 ERA), who came to Milwaukee this offseason after spending four-plus seasons with Toronto. Marcum is 5-5 with a 4.38 ERA in 16 games (11 starts) against the Red Sox, including a 3.52 ERA at Fenway Park. Boston goes with righty John Lackey (4-5, 7.41 ERA). In two starts since coming off the DL, Lackey is 2-0 and is coming off an eight strikeout performance against the Blue Jays in his last outing.
