Raise your hand if you had predicted the Cleveland Indians and Kansas City
Royals would have the two best records in the American League through 15 games.
Yeah, I didn’t think so. But they do and they start a four-game series on Monday
with the AL Central lead at
stake. The Indians are -116 favorites on Bodog’s baseball odds for Game 1. Only the red-hot Colorado Rockies have a better record than the Indians (11-4). Cleveland enters off a sweep of fading Baltimore. And the Tribe got some great news in Sunday’s 4-2 victory, their seventh straight at home. Former All-Star Grady Sizemore, who had been out since last May following microfracture knee surgery, homered and doubled in his season debut. The homer was Sizemore's first in a major-league game that counted since Aug. 27, 2009, at Baltimore. Last season
in 33 games played Sizemore only had one with multiple extra-base hits. However, he may sit tonight. Manager Manny Acta said that in the early going of the comeback, Sizemore will not be playing every day. Kansas City (10-5) was going for a sweep of Seattle on Sunday but had its
four-game winning streak stopped. The Royals entered the game leading the AL
with a .279 average, but managed just five hits, matching their season low.
Outfielder Alex Gordon is finally living up to the promise of
being the No. 1 overall pick. Gordon is hitting .365 and is on an 11-game
hitting streak, the longest of his career. Kansas City is the only AL team to
not lose a series yet. But Cleveland has won seven straight season series
against the Royals. The pitching matchup tonight is Cleveland’s Carlos
Carrasco (1-1, 5.03 ERA) vs. the Royals’ Kyle Davies
(1-1, 9.00). Get the best player props on this series at Bodog!
