(4) Use subjective input. Often this approach can lead you to go against statistics and be very effective.

(5) Be careful when using old systems, angles, theories and situations. They eventually become ineffective when becoming well-known.

(6) When using trends make sure they are still working.

Part and parcel to the fundamentals of handicapping, team sports is the basic talent of the handicapper. All of us have access to the same information, yet no two people use this information alike. Respecting the fundamentals can make the difference between winning and losing, no matter what your methods and techniques are.
