The good news is the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets still control their destiny in the ACC’s Coastal Division, but if Tech loses again this week at Miami (Fla.), the race in that division could be wide open. The Hurricanes opened as 3-point favorites on Bodog’s NCAA football odds.

No. 22 Georgia Tech (6-1, 3-1) looked unstoppable offensively in its first five games, but it has been solved somewhat in the past two, including last week’s surprising 24-21 loss at Virginia, although to be fair the Cavs had two weeks to prepare for Tech’s unique option attack. The Jackets had a season-low 296 yards against Virginia and QB Tevin Washington, while rushing 26 times for 115 yards and two TDs, was only 2-for-8 passing for 24 yards with two picks. Teams are forcing Washington to beat them single-handedly now. Tech still ranks No. 2 in the nation in rushing, ninth in total offense and 10th in scoring offense. After winning its first three games by an average of 37.3 points per game, Tech's last four games have been decided by 6.3 points.

Miami (3-3, 1-2) could be unbeaten this season – all three losses came in the final minute. The Hurricanes played really well last week for a while, taking a 27-3 lead nearly into halftime at North Carolina before holding on for a 30-24 win, coach Al Golden’s first ACC victory.  Criticized heavily throughout his career for being turnover-prone, UM QB Jacory Harris finished without an interception for the third consecutive game. He was 20-for-30 for 267 yards and three scores and ranks eighth nationally in pass efficiency (170.8). Lamar Miller, who had been the ACC’s leading rusher, was held to 29 yards on 16 carries.

The Hurricanes have won the past two meetings in this series. Last year in Atlanta it was 35-10. UM’s Harris missed that game with an injury but the Canes rushed for 277 yards. Tech rushed for 308 yards, led by Washington’s 122 in his first career start.
