The early college basketball season gets its best matchup so far and the first
time in 2011 that Top-10 teams will face off when No. 8 Florida visits No. 3
Ohio State tonight. The Buckeyes opened as 10.5-point favorites on Bodog’s NCAA
basketball odds.
Neither team had much trouble in their opener. Florida, generally picked to
finish second behind Kentucky in the SEC this season, crushed Jackson State
99-59 on Friday. Two new Gators had big games in that one. Mike
Rosario, a freshman All-American transfer from Rutgers who had to sit
out last season after another good sophomore year there, scored 19 points on 7
of 12 from the floor and 5 of 8 from 3-point range. And highly touted freshman
Bradley Beal scored 14 points in his collegiate debut. Ohio State, the two-time Big Ten champion and preseason favorite again,
bombed Wright State 73-42. Preseason National Player of the Year candidate
Jared Sullinger had 19 points and nine rebounds to lead the
Buckeyes, who have won 23 straight at home – they were unbeaten there last
year. The matchup to watch here is Gators beefy big man Patric Young
trying to slow Sullinger, who dominated the Gators’ frontline for a
game-high 26 points and 10 boards during Ohio State’s 93-75 win in Gainesville a
year ago. Young was on the court for just 12 minutes in that one but is a
centerpiece of this year’s team in the post because UF lost three starting
frontcourt players off last year’s club. UF has covered six of its past seven as an underdog. OSU is 6-1 ATS in past
seven non-conference games. The stars of tomorrow PLAY TODAY. Bet on college basketball at Bodog.
