These rankings will be updated each Monday throughout the year. Enjoy!!

1. USC
Loaded with talent at every position. Not completely sold on John David Booty however. I’m anxious to see how he handles Nebraska in Lincoln in a couple weeks.

2. LSU
If Matt Flynn can play anywhere close to how he did in the Peach Bowl a few years back, the Tigers will win the BCS. Remember, defense wins championships and LSU has the best in the nation.

3. West Virginia
Not a deadlier 1-2 punch than QB Pat White and RB Steve Slaton. Slaton told head coach Rich Rodriguez he wants the offense to average 50 points this year. Really, not that big of an outlandish statement.

4. Virginia Tech
Great defense and a monster RB in Brandon Ore. America’s team will want to give the Hokie nation something to cheer about each and every week. My guess is; they will.

5. Wisconsin
Is there such thing as a 12-1 team that’s under the radar? It happened last year. With OSU and Michigan this year, the Badgers can prove they belong at the top of the Big 10.

6. Oklahoma
No experienced quarterback. No problem. Bob Stoops will rely heavily on his trio of RB’s to get the job done. Outstanding defense per usual.

7. Michigan
The offense is loaded with Henne and Hart. The question remains if the defense will stop anybody this season.

8. Texas
Mack Brown has done an outstanding job at Texas. Colt McCoy is a darkhorse Heisman candidate and the offense could average over 40 p.p.g. this year.

9. Louisville
QB Brian Brohm is a stud and will be the number one QB taken in next year’s NFL draft. The Cards should be 11-0 when they enter Morgantown.

10. UCLA
With so many starters returning, it’s hard not to put the Bruins here. Defense should be stout as usual; however the question is on the QB Ben Olson. If he falters, look out for Patrick Cowan to take full advantage of the situation.

The rest of the best…

11. California
12. Georgia Tech
13. Hawaii
14. Florida St
15. Missouri
16. Penn St
17. Georgia
18. TCU
19. South Carolina
20. Florida
