There’s a rare Wednesday night college football game this week, with Pittsburgh hosting Connecticut in a Big East national TV matchup on ESPN. The Panthers opened as 10-point favorites on Bodog’s NCAA football odds with live betting available.

Both schools enter at 1-1 in Big East play, a game behind conference leader Cincinnati. Pitt (3-4) looked like perhaps the best team in the conference after crushing then-No. 16 South Florida 44-17 back on Sept. 29. But the Panthers have rather stunk it up since then, losing handily at Rutgers and at home last time out against Utah 26-14.

Panthers coach Todd Graham had been using two quarterbacks in Tino Sunseri and freshman Trey Anderson in recent weeks, with little success. The duo combined to complete just 9 of 30 passes for 50 yards in the loss to Utah, a game in which Pitt's offense managed just 120 yards. The Panthers are now 98th in the country in passing offense, averaging 184.4 yards per game. Graham has said the job is now Sunseri’s, however. In fact, Anderson won’t even be No. 2 this week because of tendinitis in his wrist. The Panthers’ offense revolves mostly around RB Ray Graham, who is second in the nation in yards per game (134.1) to San Diego State's Ronnie Hillman (138.8).

Pitt has lost starting safety Jason Hendricks for the season to a shoulder injury and starting offensive lineman Lucas Nix (knee) will be a game-time decision on Wednesday. Linebacker Todd Thomas will return after missing two games with an injury.

UConn (3-4) enters off a 16-10 win over South Florida back on Oct. 15. Connecticut won despite having just 253 yards of offense, and much of that came from RB Lyle McCombs, who carried the ball 30 times and recorded his fourth 100-yard game (finished with 130).

The Huskies lead the all-time series 4-3 but are 1-2 at Pitt. Last season at home UConn won 30-28.
