The first college football poll of the season was released last week, and it
lines up with the college
football betting futures now posted at the Bodog Sportsbook. Oklahoma received 42 first-place vote in last week's USA Today preseason Coaches Poll, putting them in top spot on the list. The Sooners are getting a similar treatment on the BCS futures, where they sit as the 9/2 favorite to win the national title. Alabama received 13 first-place votes in that poll to sit second behind
Oklahoma on the list, and the Crimson Tide are also second on the BCS futures at
11/2 odds. The other two schools receiving top-spot consideration in the first USA Today
Coaches Poll of the season were Oregon and LSU, who both received a pair of
first-place votes. Those two teams are at 12/1 odds at the Bodog Sportsbook to
win the BCS National Championship in January. And rounding out the top five on both lists right now are the Florida State
Seminoles, who sit fifth in the Coaches Poll and third on the BCS title game
odds at 10/1. Rounding out the rest of the Top 10 on the preseason poll (with their Bodog
Sportsbook odds to win the national championship): Stanford (16/1), Boise State
(14/1), Oklahoma State (30/1), Texas A&M (40/1), and Wisconsin (20/1). Nebraska (25/1), South Carolina (28/1), Virginia Tech (35/1), Arkansas
(30/1), TCU (30/1), Ohio State (25/1), Michigan State (50/1), Notre Dame (28/1),
