Iowa State opened their season two weeks ago with a 20-19 home win over Northern Iowa, but scored a more impressive victory last weekend when they got past rival Iowa 44-41 at home in triple overtime.

Cyclones quarterback Steele Jantz (yep, that's his name) completed 25 of his 37 pass attempts for 279 yards in that win over Iowa, tossing four touchdown strikes and avoiding interceptions. Jantz also rushed for 25 yards on 16 carries on the day.

Shontrelle Johnson rushed for 107 yards on 18 carries for the Cyclones in Week 2, while James White ran for a pair of scores (including the winner in the third overtime frame), and Darius Reynolds had two touchdown catches.

That put Iowa State at 1-1 against the college football odds on the season; the Huskies  are 1-1 straight-up but 0-2 against the spread through their first two games of the season, falling 24-21 to Vanderbilt last week after beating Fordham 35-3 in Week 1.

Connecticut QB Johnny McEntee was largely ineffective in their loss to Vanderbilt, throwing for just 99 yards and no touchdowns while getting picked off three times. The Huskies scored their TDs in that game off a blocked punt and a recovered fumble.

Still, the oddsmakers at the Bodog Sportsbook have the Huskies set as the 4-point favorites on the college football betting lines for Friday night. The last time these two schools met on the gridiron was back in 2002, when Connecticut won 37-20 on the road behind a big game from QB Dan Orlovsky.
