Duke (2-0) almost suffered a stunning opening night loss last Friday, squeaking by Belmont 77-76. That was the smallest margin of victory for Duke during its 87-game nonconference home win streak. Over that stretch, four of the games have been decided by five points or fewer. The Blue Devils looked back to normal on Saturday by blowing out Presbyterian 96-55. Superstar freshman Austin Rivers continued his strong start with 15 points, six assists, no turnovers and three steals

That win improved Krzyzewski, in his 37th season as a head coach, to 902-284, tying his college coach and mentor Bobby Knight’s wins record. Krzyzewski played for Coach Knight at Army from 1967-69.

Michigan State (0-1) opened the season with a 67-55 loss against North Carolina in the Carrier Classic – aboard the USS Carl Vinson in the San Diego harbor. Draymond Green had a huge game for the Spartans with 13 points and a career-high 18 rebounds. On the positive side, MSU outrebounded the much bigger Tar Heels 49-34, but Sparty made only 2 of 20 3-pointers.

Michigan State is the first team to open the season against North Carolina and Duke since 1976 and it’s the first time the Spartans have opened with back-to-back games against ranked teams. Michigan State is 2-8 all-time at Madison Square Garden, winning two of its last four. Duke leads the all-time series 6-2 and won the last matchup, 84-79 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Dec. 1, 2010 in Durham.

MSU is 0-5 ATS in its past five non-conference games. Duke is 1-4 ATS in past five vs. Big Ten.
