It’s one of the most important Bedlam Series matchups in the heated history
of this rivalry when No. 10 Oklahoma travels to Stillwater to face No. 3
Oklahoma State, which still has national championship aspirations. The Pokes
opened as 3.5-point favorites on Bodog’s NCAA football odds.

Oklahoma State (10-1, 7-1 Big 12) has clinched
at least a share of its first conference title since 1976 and can win its first
outright title since 1926. The Pokes have had two weeks to stew over probably
blowing their national title hopes with a 37-31 double-overtime loss at Iowa
State on Nov. 18. A few upsets since that game has gotten OSU back in the
national title picture, but the Cowboys likely need to crush Oklahoma and hope
the voters leap them over BCS No. 2 Alabama in the polls. But at worst a win
means a first-ever BCS bowl, likely the Fiesta.
It’s the final home game
for Cowboys senior QB Brandon Weeden, a Heisman candidate, and
also junior WR Justin Blackmon, the school’s all-time receiving
leader. Weeden leads the Big 12 and ranks second nationally with 373.7 passing
yards per game. He is also leads the conference and is No. 5 in the nation with
34 touchdown passes. Blackmon, who is looking for his second straight
Biletnikoff Award, leads the Big 12 and ranks second nationally with 9.4 catches
per game. He also leads the conference and is No. 3 in the nation with 15 TD
catches. In the past four games, Blackmon has 42 catches for 579 yards and seven
touchdowns. The Pokes are No. 2 in the nation in passing and
scoring.
No. 10 Oklahoma (9-2, 6-2) was the preseason national title
favorite, but a loss two weeks ago at Baylor officially ended those hopes. But
the Sooners bounced back with a 26-6 win over that Iowa State club last week.
OU, already without leading WR Ryan Broyles for the season due
to injury, didn’t have No. 2 WR Jaz Reynolds last week due to
suspension but he will be back for this one. He is averaging a team-best 17.7
yards per catch this season.
OU has owned this series of late, winning
the past eight. Last year in Stillwater, OU won 47-41 as QB Landry Jones
threw for 468 yards and three touchdowns. Weeden had 257 yards passing
with two touchdowns and three interceptions for Oklahoma State. That win forced
a three-way tie for the Big 12 South Division that OU won in the tiebreaker.
Five of the last six Bedlam Series meetings in Stillwater have been decided by
10 points or less.
Oklahoma is 5-0-1 ATS in past six as a road dog. OSU
is 7-0 ATS in past seven as a home favorite of between 3.5-10 points. Oklahoma
has covered the past six meetings.
