While No. 1 LSU and No. 2 Alabama get all the hype in the SEC West, the defending SEC and national champion Auburn Tigers still have a shot to get back to Atlanta for the conference title game. But Auburn will have not shot unless they somehow win in Baton Rouge in one of Saturday’s top games. LSU opened as a 22.5-point favorite on Bodog.

No. 20 Auburn (5-2, 3-1 SEC) is making a change at quarterback for this one. Sophomore Clint Moseley is replacing Barrett Trotter, who started the first seven games but completed only eight passes in the last six quarters for the nation's 106th-rated pass offense. Moseley has attempted nine career passes and all four completions came when he took over in the second half of last weekend's 17-6 win over Florida.

Good luck to Moseley as he faces an LSU defense that ranks fourth nationally in total defense and seventh in scoring defense. And Auburn’s top two receivers, Emory Blake and Trovon Reed, are questionable for the game due to injuries.

However, Auburn catches a huge break as LSU has suspended superstar cornerback Tyrann Mathieu and starting running back Spencer Ware for the game. Mathieu has gotten Heisman pub because he has forced four fumbles, recovering three and returning two for scores. He also has two interceptions and 42 tackles including 1½ sacks, and has earned the nickname “Honey Badger.” Ware is the leading rusher for the unbeaten Tigers with 512 yards and six touchdowns.

This is the final game for LSU (7-0, 4-0) before an epic matchup against the Crimson Tide on Nov. 5.  The Tigers have won every game by at least 13 points, including four over ranked teams. Last week LSU had no trouble at unranked Tennessee, winning 38-7. QB Jarrett Lee was 13-for-17 for 138 yards and three scores.

Auburn is 5-14-1 against LSU in Baton Rouge. LSU has won the last five meetings in Baton Rouge with Auburn’s last win coming in 1999. Six of the last seven games overall in this series have been decided by seven points or less – last year it was 24-17 Auburn, which is 9-3 against ranked teams under Gene Chizik and 2-2 in road games against ranked teams. Since 1994, AU is 2-2 vs. No. 1 teams.
