Missouri State vs. Loyola Chicago (NCAAB) - 2:00 PM EST Premium Pick
Pick: Point Spread: -7.0/-110 Loyola Chicago Pick Title: 9 Star CBB Earlybird (WIN)
The Ramblers were the pre-season pick for around 4th in the Missouri Valley Conference this season. It hasn't panned out quite that way. HC Porter Moser has Loyola of Chicago playing premium ball right now as they sit all alone 8-3 SU (18-5 overall) & good for 1st place as we head down the stretch. Moser's system of having an undersized forward compliment his backcourt has worked like a charm with 6'5" senior Aundre Jackson contributing about 11 PPG. Junior PG Clayton Custer (14 PPG) has been the catalyst & playmaker in leading his team to a lights-out 10-1 record on home hardwoods. They now take on a VERY beatable Missouri State squad that's struggled away from JQH Arena going 3-5 SU in true away games for HC Pete Lusk. Look for the Ramblers to put the clamps on Bears' leading scorer in 6'9" senior forward Alize Johnson much of the afternoon. I love Loyola of Chicago coming into this one with revenge for an earlier December 64-59 loss to Missouri State. The Ramblers are my pick to get their 1st NCAA Tournament bid since 1985. For now, let's go to Gentile Arena (The Joe) to play the LOYOLA of CHICAGO RAMBLERS (buying to - 4 1/2) as my 9 Star CBB Earlybird!
Texas Tech vs. TCU (NCAAB) - 2:00 PM EST Premium Pick
Pick: Money Line: -168 TCU Pick Title: Mike's 9 Star Big 12 Play Of The Day (LOSS)
Yes, the Texas Tech Red Raiders are scoring in bunches of late. But now they switch to a more than difficult venue to take on a Jamie Dixon team that's starting to gel defensively. Even though Chris Beard's charges (led by 6'3" PG Keenan Evans, 18.6 PPG) sport an 18-4 overall (14-0 home) record, they've only produced a 2-3 SU record thus far in true away games (minus neutral contests). I feel this game is circled on Dixon's schedule as a must win in order to push forward to their 1st NCAA bid since 1998. The 16-6 SU record of the Horned Frogs is deceptive since they've a tough out @ home going 11-2 SU. Senior guard Kenrich Williams (14.4 PPG-9.6 RPG) is a seasoned all-around veteran whose stayed solid. Williams was only 1 of 6 Division I players to have 400+ points, 300+ rebounds & 100+ assists. The team's leading scorer & big forward is back again in 6'11" senior Vladimir Brodziansky (15.1 PPG-5 RPG) is a beast underneath getting close to 2 blocked shots per game & should be a 1st-team Big 12 selection @ the end of the year. Look for the Purple Gang to slide in the tournament after winning the NIT over Georgia Tech last year. We'll trek to Ed & Rae Schollmaier Arena to play the T.C.U. HORNED FROGS as my 9 Star Big 12 Play Of The Day!
